Perhaps your child is anxious. Mornings have become a battle. Home feels tense. You're walking on eggshells, trying to say the right thing, do the right thing, and keep everyone afloat.
Over time, families naturally adapt to difficult situations. Sometimes those adaptations help. Sometimes they unintentionally keep everyone feeling stuck.
Family Support & Therapy offers a space to understand what's happening beneath the surface, strengthen relationships, and find a way forward together.
Family Support & Therapy offers a space to slow things down, understand what's happening beneath the surface, and work together towards calmer relationships, greater confidence and lasting change.
Children don't exist in isolation.
Their emotions, behaviour and wellbeing are shaped by relationships, experiences and the world around them.
Sometimes the most effective way to support a child isn't by asking them to carry the responsibility for change on their own.
By working with parents, children and families where appropriate, we can better understand the patterns that have developed and create lasting change together.
You don't have to wait until things reach crisis point before asking for support.
As a psychotherapist specialising in trauma, attachment and family systems, I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
Every family is different.
Some children benefit from having their own therapeutic space. Sometimes parents need time to reflect, understand what's happening and develop new ways of responding. In other situations, bringing family members together creates the greatest opportunity for change.
Rather than deciding this before we've even met, we'll work together to understand what your family needs.
The aim isn't to decide who is right or wrong, or to find someone to blame.
It's to understand the patterns that have developed, recognise everyone's strengths, and help your family move forward together.
Most families begin with a 90-minute Family Assessment.
This gives us the opportunity to explore what's been happening, hear everyone's perspective where appropriate, identify your family's strengths, and understand the patterns that may be keeping everyone stuck.
Together we'll decide what support is likely to be most helpful.
There isn't a fixed programme because every family is different.
Depending on your family's needs, future sessions may involve:
We'll decide this collaboratively throughout our work together, adapting the approach as your family's needs change.
Family Support & Therapy isn't about blaming parents.
It isn't about labelling one person as "the problem".
And it isn't about telling families how they should behave.
Instead, it's about understanding the relationships, experiences and patterns that influence family life, so everyone can feel more understood, connected and confident moving forward.

That's completely understandable.
Some children benefit most from individual counselling, while others make greater progress when parents or other family members are involved too.
If you're unsure which approach would be most appropriate, please get in touch. I'd be happy to discuss your situation and help you decide on the best place to start.
