Parent Support

Systemic and Attachment-Informed Support For Parents

When your child or teenager is struggling, it can feel like you are constantly firefighting. You might be second-guessing yourself, stuck in repeated patterns, or unsure what is actually going on beneath the behaviour.

Parent Support sessions give you a calm, structured space to step back, make sense of what is happening in your family, and leave with a clearer plan for what to try next.

This is not parent coaching. It is not a long programme. It is focused, contained, and grounded in therapeutic thinking.

How Parent Support Sessions Work

Parent Support sessions are offered as 60- or 90-minute sessions for parents or carers who want space to reflect, make sense of what’s happening, and think about supportive next steps for their family.

A 60-minute session is often enough for a focused concern or initial clarity. A 90-minute session offers more space to explore patterns, emotional responses, and family dynamics in greater depth.

Some parents book a single session to gain clarity around a specific concern. Others find it helpful to meet for a small number of sessions to reflect, try changes at home, and then review what’s helping.

The focus is on understanding patterns, emotional responses, and family dynamics in context, rather than blaming or “fixing” anyone.

To keep this work contained and ethically clear, these sessions are offered as a standalone service, rather than alongside individual therapy for a child or young person.

What We Can work On In A Parent Support Session

A Parent Support session can help if you are dealing with:

  • big emotions, meltdowns, shutdowns, or mood swings

  • anxiety, school stress, friendship difficulties, or low confidence

  • conflict, power struggles, constant arguing, or walking on eggshells

  • digital issues, boundaries, and online safety

  • transitions, change, separation, grief, or family stress

  • neurodiversity and sensory overwhelm (including ADHD traits and emotional intensity)

  • feeling unsure how to hold boundaries without disconnection

We focus on what is happening in context, not on blaming a parent or labelling a child.

How I Work In These Sessions

I am an integrative psychotherapist. My approach is warm, straight-talking, and grounded.

These sessions are informed by:

  • systemic and family-based thinking

  • attachment theory

  • trauma-informed practice

  • nervous-system understanding

  • communication and relational safety

You will leave with:

  • a clearer view of what might be driving the pattern

  • a few specific shifts to try at home

  • language you can use in difficult moments

  • a plan for next steps that feels realistic

How Sessions Are Offered

Parent Support Sessions are offered as 60- or 90-minute sessions.

Some parents choose to attend a single session to gain clarity around a specific concern. Others find it helpful to return for further sessions over time to reflect, try changes at home, and review what is helping.

There is no set programme or required number of sessions. We decide together, one step at a time, based on what feels helpful and appropriate.

Fees

£90 per 60-minute session

£135 per 90-minute session
